Antonino.

Line 352 (ex 326)

Line 357

Line 358
Ranzo – Scaiano. These two new lines will replace Line 328 Ranzo – Scaiano – S. Abbondio. The offer will remain almost unchanged compared to 2020.

Travelling with a view
Travelling by boat is still one of the best ways to appreciate nature and the surrounding area on a daily basis. The Società Navigazione Lago di Lugano, which also operates on the Swiss side of Lake Verbano, will introduce a new timetable for the lake shuttle between Locarno and Magadino on 13 December. In particular, the first morning services will be brought forward: from Locarno at 06.00 and from Magadino at 06.27. Subsequent trips during the day will undergo some changes.

One step away from the destination
From 13 December 2020, with the opening of the Ceneri base tunnel, travellers from Locarno will have access to a new TILO line and will be able to start benefiting from shorter journey times on several connections. Due to delays in the completion of some railway works in Ticino, the changes will be introduced in two stages: the first from 13 December 2020, the second from 5 April 2021. In December, the new timetable for TILO connections will also come into force. This will initially be a transitional timetable valid until 4 April 2021.

The new RE80 direct service
The new RE80 direct service will be available immediately. It will connect Locarno and Lugano every hour, in just 30 minutes and without changes, halving the current travel time. This change is made possible not only by the Ceneri base tunnel, but also by the Camorino link road, which provides direct access to the tunnel’s north portal from/to Locarno. It will also be possible to take advantage of fast connections with a change at Giubiasco or Bellinzona, thanks to the RE10 connections through the Ceneri base tunnel.

S20 and SOB line
The timetable for the S20 line remains unchanged, with trains running to Biasca every 30 minutes instead of every hour. The departure times from Biasca and Bellinzona will also be slightly adjusted. The new Schweizerische Südostbahn (SOB) connections will be available from Bellinzona to Biasca, Airolo and inland Switzerland.

Work in progress
The major works for the doubling of the line between Contone and Tenero will continue until April 2021 and will involve the replacement of night services with buses and a total shutdown of the line between 19 and 22 March 2021, again with a replacement bus service.

The second stage
When the final timetable comes into force on 5 April 2021, the new RE80 service will run between Locarno – Lugano – Chiasso every 30 minutes, with an hourly extension to/from Milano Centrale. Line RE10 will no longer run, as it will be replaced by RE80 services between Lugano and Milano Centrale and by line S10 between Bellinzona and Lugano. The S20 line will have as its new northern terminus Castione-Arbedo. The new connections of the Schweizerische Südostbahn (SOB) will start directly from Locarno.

Arcobaleno has a wide range of season tickets and tickets to meet the different mobility needs of the population. From 13 December, the offer will be expanded, but fares will remain unchanged.

More on offer for the same price
The increase in services will not lead to any changes in fares: there are no plans to change the zone plan or the prices of tickets and passes. Arcobaleno has already carried out a major fare restructuring in June 2019 that has provided attractive savings opportunities: for example, thanks to the elimination of the
For example, the elimination of the minimum purchase of two zones for season tickets or access to the whole of Ticino with only 8 zones for tickets.

Buy your ticket with a click
Arcobaleno tickets are also available via the Arcobaleno App. Thanks to the practical mobile ticketing service, you can buy and store your tickets (e.g. single tickets, cross-border tickets and day passes) directly in the Arcobaleno App in a safe and environmentally friendly way. The Arcobaleno app also allows you to travel informed and in real time: for example, you can easily consult timetables and any delays, or search for stops near your starting point.

Arcobaleno gets a makeover
Arcobaleno is taking part in the public transport revolution in Ticino with a new look. The graphics have been lightened and a new website will soon be available that is even easier to navigate, where you can discover all the advantages and savings opportunities linked to public transport.
