Transport linking towns and valleys

The development of public transport in the Locarno region is part of the broader 3rd generation Locarno agglomeration programme (PALoc 3). In this context, the AlpTransit base tunnel on Monte Ceneri and the planned expansion of the regional railway network play a key role in the development of public transport.
This expansion will only be fully operational as of April 2021, but will involve a reorganisation of the road network as of the timetable change on 13 December. This is another important step that aims to redesign the face of public transport in our region.

From December 2020, it will already be possible to benefit from a wider and more articulated offer, both in the urban and regional areas, with increases in particular in the early morning and evening hours. A new TILO line will connect Locarno and Lugano every hour, in just 30 minutes and without changes, halving the current travel time.

The new public transport network has many new features in store and will reach its full potential when all the measures and measures have been completed. For our company, this major expansion has involved major infrastructure investments, the expansion and renewal of the bus fleet and the hiring of 61 new drivers. The goal is ever closer!
