Cookies are used for different purposes, have different characteristics and can be used by the owner of the site you are visiting, or by third parties. Examples of similar technologies
Tracking users’ online browsing can also be carried out with technologies similar to cookies. Below are some examples.
- Localstorage
It is a technology used to optimise browsing, which does not collect data about the preferences expressed by the user (e.g. it stores a login code identifying the user’s session, so that the user does not have to enter username and password on every page of the profile when accessing restricted areas. - Tracking pixels
“Tracking code” or “tracking code”, is precisely a small portion of code that is released by some systems with the purpose of being implemented in others to track certain data relating to the user and his browsing session or opening emails, in a way that is completely transparent to the user. The data that is tracked can vary from day and time, geographic location, the type of navigation device used, to the most complex tracking pixels to track the value spent on a purchase order and other information useful to the marketing departments of the companies that use it. - Plugin
It is a program that interacts with another program to extend or extend its original functionality. The most commonly used plugins are those of social networks, which allow you, for example, to follow a page or a social profile with a click, to indicate with a click that you liked web content and to share it on your social network profile, etc. - Widgets
It is a graphical component of the user interface of a program, whose purpose is to make it easier for the user to interact with the program itself. The widgets most used are those of social networks, which allow users to easily open social networks in a separate window of the browser.
These services allow you to interact with social networks, or with other external platforms, directly from the pages of a site. Interactions and information acquired from the site are subject to the privacy settings of the third party that created the aforementioned technologies. To receive detailed information pursuant to art. 13 of the Personal Data Protection Act, regarding the use of personal data processed when using these technologies, we invite you to visit the websites of the third-party operators of these technologies.
What are social plugins and how are they used?
You can use the social plugins listed below:
- Facebook; Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA)

Social plug-ins are used to further personalise websites. They are marked with the logo of the respective provider. On websites, plug-ins are deactivated by default and therefore do not send data to social networks.
When the plugins are activated, the browser establishes a direct connection to the servers of the respective social network as soon as you access our website. The content of the plugin is transmitted from the social network directly to your browser and integrated into the website.
By integrating the plugins, the respective provider receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an account on this social network or have not logged in at the time. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted from your browser directly to a server of the provider (mostly in the USA) and stored there. We therefore have no influence on the extent of the data collected by the provider via the plugin.
If you have logged in to the social network, the social network can link your visit to our website directly to your user account. If you interact with the plugins, the corresponding information is transmitted directly to a server of the provider and stored there. In addition, the information may be published on the social network and, depending on the circumstances, may also be shown to other users.
The provider of the social network may use this information for advertising purposes, market research and to configure the respective offer according to the needs. For this purpose, user, interest and relationship profiles may be created, e.g. to analyse your use of our website in view of the advertisements that will be shown to you on the social network, to inform other users of your activities on our website and to provide other services related to the use of the social network.
In order to find out the purposes and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by the providers of the social networks, as well as your rights in this regard and the options for setting up the protection of your privacy, please consult the data protection instructions of the respective provider directly.
If you do not want the social network provider to associate the data collected through our website with your user account, you must log out of the social network before activating the plugins.
For the data processing activities described, the legal basis is legitimate interest.
