Views of the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway on a stamp to celebrate its first 100 years
The commemorative stamp, which was previewed in the Swiss Post’s philatelic magazine ‘La Lente’ on 27.09.2023 and officially launched on Saturday, 09.09.2023, depicts one of the railway’s most iconic scenes. The crossing over the iron bridge at Intragna is in fact a symbolic image, encapsulating all the spectacular beauty of the railway line.
In graphic terms, the stamp features a vintage-style design that recalls the period of the railway’s inauguration. The circular flow of text ensures a continuous reading, thus forming a self-contained path – an abstract symbol of a railway route.
The stamp is on sale at all post office counters, at the FART ticket office in Locarno and at the FART reception office in Locarno S. Antonio.
